Consumer Credit Laws
Consumer Credit Cost Protection Act - the primary source of federal credit protection.
The Consumer Credit Protection Act is the primary source of federal law covering credit transactions.
As part of this act, we find a number of amendments that were instituted over the decades:
- Consumer Credit Cost Disclosure Act, commonly known as the Truth-in-Lending Act
- Fair Credit Billing Act
- Fair Credit Reporting Act
- Equal Credit Opportunity Act
- Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
- Electronic Fund Transfer Act
Together, these laws serve to cover all aspects of unfair lending, making sure that no externalities play a part in your ability to borrow money, and how you are treated by lenders.
