Free Annual Credit Report
You are now entitled to a free credit report from each bureau once per year.
If you wish to obtain a free copy of your credit report, you may do so online, by phone, or by mail. Due to the passing of a recent federal law, you can now obtain a free credit report from each bureau once a year. All states are eligable for this offer.
You may receive your free credit report under two circumstances. Firstly, if you were rejected on a loan application, you may request a copy of your credit report within 30 days of the rejection. Secondly, if you are not currently employed, are receiving welfare, or believe discrepancies resulting from fraud are present on your report, you may request your free copy of the credit report.
One issue we should note, however, is that while you are entitled to a complementary report, you still have to pay to view your credit score.
You may obtain your free credit report online at www.annualcreditreport.com, by calling 877-322-8228, or by completing the Annual Credit Report Request Form and mailing it to: Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281.
